A WINDHILL school has been praised for the innovative ways it supports pupils, including those with emotional and behavioural difficulties.

Christ Church Primary Academy took steps over the last two terms to introduce the new cycle of support for all children, which helped it secure an Ofsted Good for Behaviour and Safety.

Inspectors who recently visited the school described Christ Church as an "exceptionally caring school where pupils are helped to believe in themselves."

With the support of Pivot Educational Consultancy the school, part of the Bradford Diocesan Academies Trust, introduced The Ark, a service to meet the needs of children displaying extreme social, emotional and behavioural difficulties.

Other interventions provided across the school include a learning hub, a nurture hub and a parent and family support service bridging the gap between children’s needs inside and outside school.

Headteacher Philippa Foster said: "Children need to be in a safe place to learn if they are going to do well during their time at school and we want to do everything we can to support them in their academic development and personal growth."
