A SEVEN-YEAR old girl has raised more than £450 for an epilepsy charity by having 16 inches of her hair cut off.

Abigail Swift, of Hirst Wood Crescent, Saltaire, also donated the cuttings to the Little Princess Trust, which provides to young people who have lost their own hair as a result of cancer treatment.

Her sponsorship will be given to Epilepsy Sucks, to be used to buy anti-suffocation pillows for people affected by the condition.

Abigail's grandma, Margaret Swift, who helped organise the haircut at The Cutting Jungle, said: "I thought she was going to cry, but she didn't, she was very brave.

"She has raised over £450, which is not bad for a seven year-old.

"Her hair was brushing the floor and we thought it was time to do something about it.

"We told her it would go to a good cause, and she's really happy she has been able to help people.

"Her cousin Jessica has epilepsy so we've always helped to support the charity.

"She's never had her hair loose before, but she loves it."
