HARRY Ramsden's will return to its Yorkshire roots when it opens a new shop in Shipley next month.

The shop, located on Wrose Road, will be a purpose-built unit called a 'Local', which is similar in format to a traditional fish and chip shop.

The shop, set to open on April 2, will also create 10 full and part-time jobs.

The Wrose Road site is currently vacant within a new development.

Further new shops are already planned in Huddersfield and Sheffield.

The firm currently has 28 outlets across the UK and opened its first shop in Guiseley in 1928.

Joe Teixeira, chief executive officer of Harry Ramsden’s, said: "It has always been a dearly held ambition to bring the Harry Ramsden’s name back to Yorkshire so I am delighted that we are able to announce the opening of Shipley.

"It effectively represents deserved financial investment in the brand and more importantly, secures Harry Ramsden’s legacy, locally."
