LOVERS of some of the world’s strangest plants will soon celebrate the platinum anniversary of the Bradford branch of the British Cactus and Succulent Society.

And as part of the celebrations, people are invited to share snaps of the plants for a summer exhibition.

The group’s publicity officer, Brian Thornton, said: “It occurs to me that there could well be many people in the area who have plants worth some publicity and whether we could invite them to submit photographs, emails etc which could be displayed at our annual show in June.”

The group meets monthly at Shipley Library and offers to rehouse plants people no longer want.

“It might have become difficult to care for the plants but it would be unfortunate if the only alternative was to throw them out,” Mr Thornton said. “I’ve found instances where people with whom we have had no contact have had some splendid plants of which they are proud.”

The group is also celebrating arranging an anniversary event at Wilsden Village Hall on Saturday, April 25.
