PARKSIDE School in Cullingworth has again seen a significant improvement in its A-level results.

Head Andy Taylor said the school had a number of its students going to university, including Russell Group universities, or enrolling on apprenticeships.

He said: “We are this year proud and pleased of each and every one of our students and their A-level results, which have seen significant improvement yet again.

“Our congratulations go to all our students and we wish them all the best in whatever they choose to do.

“We look forward to seeing their continued growth and development in the future, having given themselves every opportunity of success.”

Among those happy with their results was Kezia Grange, of Haworth, whose A, B and C grades in psychology, sociology, and biology, along with a distinction in business studies, landed her a place to study psychology at Leeds University.

Kezia’s friend Rosie Butterworth-Farrar, also of Haworth, get three Bs in psychology, sociology, and RE, and will take film studies at the University of in Bristol with the aim of working in the film industry.

She said: “I didn’t expect those grades – in my mocks I got two Ds and a U!”

George Turner, of Long Lee, gained an A, B and two C grades, along with a distinction, in science and maths subjects.

He had begun his A-level studies with thoughts of becoming a doctor, but a week’s work placement encouraged him in another direction, and he now plans to start an apprenticeship in accountancy.

Alex Collier, of Wilsden, will study engineering at Bradford University after gaining A levels in chemistry, physics and maths.

Verity Moore, of Cullingworth, also gained the grades she needed to study midwifery in Salford.

Kate Helliwell, of Cullingworth, said she was “really happy” with her A and two Cs in geography, biology and chemistry, and will now train to be a radiographer at Liverpool University.

Olivia Holmes, of Haworth, will study wildlife conservation at Liverpool John Moore’s with her A and 2Bs in psychology, biology and chemistry.

Her friend Holly Woodhouse, also of Haworth, gained an A, B and C in business, RE and history, just what she wanted to begin a course in marketing and advertising at Sheffield Hallam University.
