SIR - It is sad that the great institution, the Wickham hotel has been forced to close. (T&A, December 30).
The loss of the Wickham is a major blow for Cleckheaton. It is the only hotel in town (10 rooms).
And it is a real pub - which was always open day and night, unlike most pubs these days which are only open on certain days and hours.
It had a warm and inviting atmosphere and staff who knew their job. Tribute must be paid to Stephen and Kay Hey and staff who supported, sports teams and the complete community.
But along with the closure of the town hall - what have we got left?
Peter Fawcett, St Peg Lane, Cleckheaton
