THE University of Bradford has been ranked number one in the UK for student placements on nursing and midwifery courses.

The ranking is based on feedback from final-year students who completed the annual National Student Survey in 2016. The survey gave the university’s nursing and midwifery programmes an overall satisfaction rating of between 94 – 100 per cent.

The practice placements are an integral aspect of the Faculty of Health Studies’ programmes, and accounts for up to 50 per cent of each student’s credits. The practice-based learning provides students with real life work experience, which helps them to prepare for a career in health and social care.

The University works with local and regional NHS Trusts to provide placements for its students.

The survey is held every year to gauge how satisfied students are in their courses.

Pam Bagley, Dean of the Faculty of Health Studies, said: “The data is sufficiently large to have allowed this analysis of nursing and midwifery against other programmes.

“We and our practice partners should feel extremely proud to have achieved this top performance in the UK.”
