A 1940s themed event at Airedale General Hospital proved music to the ears of a charity.

Time for a Cuppa, held by occupational therapy and physiotherapy teams to highlight the benefits of music therapy, raised nearly £200 for Dementia UK.

It included music and reminiscence materials, and cakes and refreshments were on sale to help fund specialist nurses who support dementia sufferers living at home.

Sara Robinson, a senior nurse at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, said: "The event was fantastic.

"We had such a great response from staff, who loved how we had decorated the room, and everyone enjoyed using the reminiscence cards.

"Our guests commented about how the music made them feel relaxed and took them back to their younger days."

Jo Ogden, physiotherapy assistant at the trust, said: "Music helps to lift people's mood and stimulates emotions and reactions so is an ideal tool to help us engage with patients and care for them."
