AN educational service for children being treated in Airedale General Hospital is “making reasonable progress” in pulling itself out of special measures, according to a recent Ofsted report.
The Education in Hospital (Airedale) learning support service was judged inadequate when it was inspected last September, and immediately placed into special measures. The service teaches children during hospital stays, but at the last visit, inspectors said this teaching was inadequate.
After a visit this month, inspector Gina White, released an update on the service’s status, saying: “The school is making reasonable progress towards the removal of special measures. Improvements in provision are ensuring better continuity to learning.” However, her report registered a concern about managers failing to pay due heed to the views of pupils using the service.
