Voluntary Contribution Award

This category is to celebrate the achievement or dedication of such as governors or parents who have shown dedication and commitment to their school on a voluntary basis.

A school can exist purely on the efforts of its salaried staff, of course, but those establishments which really feel special have a lot of involvement from tireless volunteers who give up their time, energy and services for no greater reward than the further-ance of the school, its teachers and its pupils.

It's all about dedication. School governors, parents, members of the local community. . . if your school is the sort of place that attracts a devoted and dedicated army of volunteers to help enrich the lives of your students, then we want to hear all about it.

The Telegraph & Argus can trace its direct history back to 1868 when the Bradford Daily Telegraph - the city's first daily newspaper and forerunner of today's T&A - appeared on the streets costing a half-penny a copy (about £1.47 per copy at today's prices! ) 

Its newspaper roots, however, go back to the birth of the Bradford Observer, in 1834, a title which, in the shape of the Yorkshire Observer, was amalgamated into the T&A in 1956.

The Telegraph & Argus itself first appeared in 1926, when the Bradford Daily Telegraph and the Yorkshire Evening Argus merged.

In recent years, the T&A has won numerous awards for design, content, campaigns and appeals, including accolades for the Specialist Publication of the Year 2013 in the Yorkshire & Humber Media Awards, for its coverage of Bradford City's Capital One Cup run.
