A DRUG dealer caught with more than £1,000 of cannabis and a baseball bat in his boot has been jailed for 14 months.
Matthew Johnson, 27, hit an unmarked police car during a pursuit around narrow residential streets in Brighouse at 10.20am on September 21 last year.
He admitted dangerous driving in a Volkswagen Golf and possession of cannabis with intent to supply.
Johnson sped away from a marked patrol car after officers spotted he was not wearing a seatbelt.
He accelerated off along Church Road, Thornhill Road and Rosemary Lane, Bradford Crown Court heard yesterday.
Johnson crashed into an unmarked police car that joined the pursuit before being forced to stop when an oncoming lorry blocked his way.
Police seized 109 grams of cannabis with a street value of £1,048.
The court heard in mitigation that Johnson, of Woodman Avenue, Huddersfield, was a hard working man who was a heavy user of cannabis to combat depression and anxiety.
He was dealing on a small scale to fund his own habit.
The Recorder of Bradford, Judge Roger Thomas QC, banned him from driving for 19 months.
