A multi-million pound Bradford-based construction company has opened a London office as part of its ambitious plans to grow the business by £2 million this year.

PEC Building & Shopfitting Ltd, established in 1977, has grown from a one-man operation into one of Yorkshire’s leading companies offering commercial fit-out, refurbishment, bespoke joinery manufacture and project management to UK and European clients in the public and private sectors.

Chairman and founder Balbir Panesar said opening an office in London was a move to win more business. He said: “Yorkshire and Bradford will always be the centre of our operations.

“However we realise that in order to win more business we need to have a London presence. I will be going to London on a regular basis to develop business by networking with existing and new clients.”

PEC’s new London office is in Grosvenor Square, in the exclusive Mayfair district. The opening comes at the same time as the company announces a new management team structure, following the appointment of a new managing director at the start of the year.

Mr Panesar now takes the role of chairman, charged with developing national and international business, while his son Sohan Panesar assumes day-to-day control with a management team that has been restructured.

Financial director Steve Fowler has been with the company for 14 years while commercial director Suki Panesar started his PEC career in 1993 as an apprentice electrician.

Technical director Chris Stables joined 22 years ago, working his way up from site electrician to site manager and projects estimator. Newly appointed projects director Johnny Bubbra was Homebase’s ‘Star Performer’ in its Big Ticket Personality of the Year Awards 2011.

Managing director Sohan Panesar said: “The time has come to shout about our expertise and abilities, and the management team felt it was important for our growth to have a physical presence in the UK’s largest market from where we can sell our services, thereby bringing more business and creating jobs into the Yorkshire community.”

“Without doubt, this prestigious address gives us a high-quality platform to raise our profile with businesses in the capital.”
