A long-established motor dealership, which has created 15 jobs at its recently-opened £1 million Bradford showroom, achieved record sales in 2010 nd expects to deliver 3,000 new and used vehicles this year.

Farnell Land Rover, one of the oldest in the country, opened its new Canal Road showroom at the end of last year and has outlets in Guiseley and Leeds.

The firm, part of the Co-operative Group, saw an increase in sales across all models. Sales of Freelanders rose by 37 per cent, Range Rovers by 29 per cent, Discoveries by 27 per cent, Range Rover Sport by 23 per cent and Defenders by 11 per cent.

The company said an excellent response to new 2011 models, together with increased economy across the range, had been the main drivers in the sales boom.

Jatinder Singh Aujla, Farnell Group operations manager, said: “Customers are increasingly looking for improved value for money from their vehicles, and this – along with improved fuel efficiencies in comparison to previous models – are the key drivers for sales.

“Add to this the fact that Range Rovers and Land Rovers are UK designed and assembled, and the success is even more pertinent in the current economic climate.

“In 2011 we expect to deliver over 3,000 new and used vehicles across our three dealerships in Bradford, Guiseley and Central Leeds, which will further cement our position as one of the leading Range Rover and Land Rover dealership groups in the UK.”

The company, which celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2009 and was one of the first Land Rover dealerships in the world, is due to mark the opening of its showroom next week.

The site off Canal Road is one of the largest Land Rover showrooms in the UK and amongst the biggest in the world.

It can accommodate nine models, with the ability to demonstrate features such as the in-car entertainment and satellite navigation systems. It also houses more than 40 approved used vehicles.

The new showroom features the latest in customer hospitality facilities, with an LCD television, wi-fi, a state- of-the-art touch-screen coffee machine as well as ice cream and cold drinks, along with a children’s play area.

Customers can view the workshop through a large glass wall next to service reception There is also a business centre in a separate self-contained showroom at the rear of the building for corporate customers.

Staff facilities include a canteen with plasma television and a technician’s shower area.

Mr Aujla said: “We have created one of the very best dual branded Range Rover-Land Rover dealerships to add to our sites in Guiseley and Leeds.

“Our total investment in Bradford is in excess of £1 million and we have created over 15 new jobs.

“Our aim is to provide exceptional customer facilities and a level of care that can only be matched by the very best retail organisations.”
