An apartment block is to benefit from advanced technology supplied by an expanding Bradford based green energy company.

The City House apartments in Croydon are to benefit from energy efficient, intelligent metering for electricity, heating and hot water, system administration, and an individualised billing service, provided by ENER-G Switch2.

The Bradford firm is one of the UK’s biggest suppliers of metering and billing technologies for multi tenancy buildings.

It supplies meters, including domestic smart meters, for communal heat schemes and provides billing and energy use analysis for social and commercial landlords The company’s technology allows residents to control their warmth to a level they can afford, while saving energy.

The City House residential and commercial complex was developed and is run by Fairview New Homes, which specialises in developing brownfield sites and derelict land to create attractive living environments.

City House combines a mixture of privately-owned, socially tenanted and shared-ownership apartments and studios, and the development generates its own energy from wind turbines.

ENER-G Switch 2 celebrated its 30th anniversary in May with the announcement it was to move from Cullingworth to larger premises in Saltaire, Shipley, creating up to 20 jobs in the next year.

The firm doubled its turnover over the past three years to £9 million.

Earlier this year moved its 50 staff into the larger, 6,500 sq ft offices at the Waterfront on Salts Mill Road.

It is also looking to relocate its warehousing and meter-assembly operation to larger premises in the Aire Valley.

ENER-G Switch2 has evolved from a metering and maintenance operation which worked mainly for local authority clients operating large district heating schemes, into total energy service provision.

It designs, installs, operates and maintains green communal energy schemes for public and private sector clients.
