Business and sporting professionals are set to clash in a good cause.

A penalty shoot-out between a group of fundraising regional business people and children helped by a charity was staged to highlight a forthcoming event to raise cash. Members of the Yorkshire Property Charity Football committee staged the event with children from Wildfire@Barnardo’s Outreach – the charity set to benefit from a fund-raising soccer match at Leeds United’s ground on Thursday, October 14.

It will be the only charitable event to be staged at Elland Road this year.

Regional business professionals will compete alongside former professionals including Peter Beagrie, Noel Whelan, Andy Ritchie, Simon Grayson and Craig Hignett.

Former Bradford City player and regular Sky TV reporter Dean Windass has also pledged to join the team. After the game there will be a dinner where the speaker will be comedian John Stiles, son of the 1966 England World Cup hero Nobby Stiles.

Organisers are hoping to beat last year’s success in raising £23,000 for Wildfire@Barnardo’s Outreach, which provides services to expectant parents and families with children aged up to five.
