SOUTH Craven MP Julian Smith welcomed the farming minister to the district for a debate about the agricultural industry’s future.

He and George Eustice took part in discussions at Skipton Auction Mart.

Mr Eustice outlined work being carried out by the Government to prepare the industry for the UK’s withdrawal from the EU.

He then took questions from the audience on a wide range of topics, including farming subsidies and regulation, environmental schemes and support for upland farmers.

Both MPs were also given a tour of the the auction mart by its general manager, Jeremy Eaton, and CCM Auctions chairman Anthony Hewetson.
