A BUILDING society is urging members to use their annual vote to have their say on the organisation’s running and raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

For every vote received at Yorkshire Building Society’s annual general meeting, a donation will be made to its Hour of Need campaign which aims to raise £500,000 for nursing care by December 2016.

The company will donate 25p to Marie Curie for every online vote received and 15p for every postal vote.

For every 80 online votes, or 134 postal votes, received the Hour of Need campaign will receive £20 which will fund one hour of Marie Curie care.

Members of Yorkshire Building Society, which also includes Barnsley, Chelsea and Norwich & Peterborough building societies, are being asked to vote on a number of decisions including the election and re-election of directors and the Annual Report and Accounts.

Manager of the Bradford John Street branch of YBS, Claire Byrne, said: “One of the unique aspects of being a member of a building society is the right to vote.”
