The relaunch of a Skipton pub following a major refurbishment has significantly boosted custom.

The Yorkshire Rose in Coach Street is being run by new leaseholders Steven and Angela Gray. and closed for a month to enable a £200,000 refurbishment by pub company Punch Taverns.

Mrs Gray said: “The launch of the Yorkshire Rose has been incredibly well-received by the town and since we opened a couple of months ago it has been really busy.

“All of the feedback has been extremely positive, the customers like the new decor – particularly the feature wall with a map of the area – and feel that it looks fresher without losing the cosy, traditional feel. We are seeing a lot of new people come in who have never been in before, which is great.”

Work on the pub included new decor and a beer terrace outside. There is an expanded drinks selection, including five cask ales and a new coffee station. The pub has introduced a new menu, including a selection of cakes and cream teas.

Mr Gray said “The investment has given the pub the new lease of life it needed and will allow us to strengthen our food and drink offer whilst bringing the pub back to the community. The team and I are enjoying welcoming customers old and new back to the pub and we encourage those who haven’t done so to come and in and see the new look and try the new menu.”

Derick Cooper, Punch Taverns’ new business development manager, said: “Everyone is really pleased with the transformation and I have every confidence that Steven, Angela and the team will take the pub from strength to strength.”
