A social networking initiative launched by an Ilkley PR firm to help businesses to promote their services and generate visitors to the town has celebrated its first anniversary.
During that time ‘#Ilkleyhour’ has seen around 300 businesses join the Monday conversations between 7pm and 8pm and generated more than 3,000 tweets – and helped firms win business.
Approach PR managing director Suzanne Johns said the hour was introduced to encourage networking, exchange business news and to emulate the success of the popular ‘#Yorkshirehour’ hashtag introduced in 2012.
She said: “In just 12 months ‘#Ilkleyhour’ has generated 3,011 tweets between local businesses from cake makers and financial specialists to accountants and hoteliers.”
Andi Lonnen, owner of Andi Lonnen Business Associates and a contributor to #Ilkleyhour, said the “hour” had been invaluable to developing her business reputation. She said she had secured business leads and new contacts.
