An apprenticeship charity has invested £1 million towards a new industrial engineering training centre at its Bradford headquarters.
Appris, based in Laisterdyke, says work has now started on the development, which aims to give employers in the region more choice in how their engineering apprentices are trained.
The centre will be open to a September cohort of learners, offering machining, mechanical assembly and maintenance programmes, alongside electrical and electronic pathways to complement existing electrical and H&S training.
A spokesman said: “These reserves have been accumulated through our members investing in apprenticeships and training with Appris for over 40 years so, in effect, the centre will be built by members, for members.”
Appris has also secured additional Capital Funding from the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills.
