Keighley MP Kris Hopkins has praised two family-run businesses which have forged a successful partnership.

Keybury Fire and Security has become the chosen supplier for leading motorcycle and car dealer Colin Appleyard across its six-strong franchise network.

In Keighley, Keybury has installed state-of-the-art fire and intruder alarms and CCTV systems at Appleyard’s motorcycle dealership in Wellington Road, CCTV and intruder alarms at Appleyard’s new Nissan dealership in Coney Lane, which it acquired last year, along with a new CCTV system at the main Suzuki dealership and head office in Halifax Road.

The company has also put in place enhanced security provision at Appleyard’s used car dealership in Otley Road, Shipley, as well as intruder and fire alarms, and CCTV at the company’s recently-acquired Subaru franchises in both Huddersfield and Ashton-Under-Lyne, which is also an Isuzu dealership.

Frank Gee, Keybury managing director, said: “We have developed an excellent trading partnership with Colin Appleyard, an alliance we feel can be held aloft as a shining example of best practice of local companies working together for the good of the local economy.”

Robin Appleyard, managing director of Colin Appleyard, said, “We have a lot in common with Keybury – we are both traditional family-run businesses with a passion for exceeding our customers’ expectations.

“We always choose to work with local companies provided that we don’t have to compromise on service. Keybury has always provided excellent quality of work and support for us, so I have no doubts that our business alliance will go from strength to strength.”

Mr Hopkins said: “It is good to see two renowned local firms collaborating for mutual benefit and, in so doing, directly benefiting the local economy and securing local jobs.

“I wish both companies continued success.”

Between them, the two firms have a pedigree stretching back 75 years, with Colin Appleyard established in 1971 and Keybury in 1982.

Colin Appleyard Motorcycles became the first UK dealer to win the Motor Cycle News dealer of the year award twice, while Keybury won the small business category in the inaugural Keighley Business Awards last year.
