We’re looking for the best new business of the year for our Bradford Means Business Awards.

The closing date is looming on Friday, March 29, so get to thetelegraphandargus/bradfordmeansbusiness to enter.

The New Business of the Year award is for the business which has been in operation for less than a year which can demonstrate imagination, sound planning, exceptional marketing and great delivery.

We want to hear about the concept of the business, how the idea came about, and what market research was undertaken. How was the business plan put together? What are the main objectives? What advisers were recruited to help with budgeting and professional matters?

Your submission might include your sales and marketing plan and how IT has been embraced. We’d like to know what the management structure of the company is and what projections there are for growth and employment opportunities.

Inventor Phil Wilson claims a “good idea” is the reason for his success in the New Business of the Year category last year.

The company director, who is the neighbour to business partner Chris Peltier, had a “eureka moment” when realising that his work as a builder meant his car seats were always dirty, creating problems in the family car.

To solve the conundrum he invented a removable and reusable car seat cover, and his LeafSeat business was born.

Speaking after he was presented with the accolade, Phil, of Sandy Lane, said: “I can’t believe we’ve won. I think the reason we’ve won is because it’s a good idea. It feels brilliant.”

Sponsoring this award is Appleyard Jaguar which was established in Bradford in the 1960s.

General manager Chris Gardner is proud of the dealership’s long-standing reputation for delivering outstanding customer service to its loyal and valued Jaguar owners.

Last year was again a very successful year for the dealership, with new Jaguar sales up 30 per cent year-on-year.

This year promises to be another year of growth.

The much-anticipated launch of Jaguar’s first sports car since the iconic E Type, the New Jaguar F Type, arrives in April.

Mr Gardener said: “We firmly believe in the highest levels of customer service. Drop by our dealership to meet us in person, for the chance to talk to our Jaguar Academy-trained staff who can provide you with the advice and assistance.”
