A train was struck by a shopping trolley thrown onto a rail line in Bradford, putting lives at risk.
The trolley was thrown from New Cross Street, West Bowling, on Monday as the 7.37pm Leeds to Manchester Piccadilly train was passing through Bradford at about 8.10pm.
Chief Inspector Derek O’Mara said: “Luckily there were no reported injuries to the driver or passengers and the train wasn’t damaged, however this could have been a lot more serious. I cannot emphasise enough the dangers associated with this type of crime. Not only is it reckless behaviour by those responsible, but they put lives on the line.”
Inquiries were carried out in the area which included British Transport Police speaking to residents and forensic tests carried out.
