Three hard-working members of Bradford Amateur Rowing Club have received national recognition from British Rowing for all the excellent work they have done for the sport - not only at their club but also in the north of England.

Barbara and Terry Edwards have jointly received the British Rowing Medal of Merit for their work, having been major members of the team running Bradford ARC’s regattas for the past 35 years.

They are also part of Yorkshire Rowing, which supports and helps all oarsmen and women in the region by supplying finance for coaching, running training days and producing crews to represent the county at the Inter Regional Regatta, held at the National Watersports Centre at Nottingham.

Barbara has been the Yorkshire Rowing secretary for 20 years and Terry has had many roles, including regional chairman and divisional representative, spending time visiting British Rowing’s head offices in London to promote rowing in the Broad Acres.

Meanwhile, Stuart Ward has been awarded the Jubilee Medal for services to rowing.

Stuart has held various positions in the sport over many years, both at Bradford ARC, at Yorkshire Rowing and as the British Rowing national water safety advisor.

Andrew Cawood, chairman of Yorkshire Rowing, said that hard-working volunteers were the lifeblood of all rowing clubs, and these were very well deserved honours which recognised all the hard work done by Terry, Barbara and Stuart over a number of years.
