A businessman behind plans to bring free wi-fi access to Ilkley town centre has presented his ideas to councillors.
Matthew Wright, who runs IT consultancy firm Soda, gave a digital presentation to Ilkley Parish Council on Monday.
He said the scheme would provide free access to the public, allowing visitors to check their emails and access the internet for free.
A trial scheme run in York for three months had almost a million log-ins, said Mr Wright.
The scheme would involve fitting around ten small white boxes on a number of buildings in the town to transmit the wi-fi signal, each box costing around £250. Businesses which help out could be offered an advert on the service’s homepage in return, Mr Wright said.
