Bradford singer Chantel McGregor has been voted Female Vocalist Of The Year in this year’s British Blues Awards.
The award follows her success last year, when she won the Young Artist Of The Year in the British Blues Awards.
Said to have the tone of Robin Trower, the inspiration of Jimi Hendrix, the influence of Stevie Ray Vaughan, the energy of Joe Bonamassa, the intensity of Walter Trout and the haunting vocals of Stevie Nicks all rolled into one, Chantel’s star is rising.
This week she has been busy supporting Marillion, at a Cambridge gig that fans say went down a storm, and at the London Acoustic Show.
Chantel has come a long way since she was jamming in Bradford, aged 12. Since graduating from the Leeds College of Music, she has performed around the UK and overseas.
“Playing live to great audiences is one of the most wonderful feelings,” she says. “I feel so lucky to be able to do something that I love, see the world and bring happiness to others through my music."
Chantel's debut album, Like No Other, is out now.
