Goodbye grey skies, hello blue – Keighley Amateurs are kicking off their autumn season with a production of Happy Days.

The feelgood show, based on the popular TV series starring Henry Winkler as king of cool Arthur ‘The Fonz’ Fonzarelli, runs at Keighley’s Victoria Hall from October 15 to 20 at 7.15pm, with a Saturday matinee at 2.15pm.

Happy days are here again, with regular characters Richie, Potsie and Ralph Malph joining Fonize and the much-loved Cunningham family – yes, Howard, Marion and Joanie are here too – for a generous serving of nostalgia with a side-order of Fifties-style songs.

The iconic role of The Fonz is taken on by Mark Allan, a well-known actor on the local amateur scene who recently played Phil in Keighley Amateurs’ Brassed Off and Fagin in Ilkley Amateurs’ production of Oliver!

“Following last year's production of Footloose, we’re sure our audience will love the energy and vitality of Happy Days,” says director Jamesine Cundall Walker. “Our young cast will re-create the fun and laughter of 1950s smalltown America through the eyes of Richard Cunningham. It’s funny with a brilliant new musical score and a new adventure for the gang. People will love Happy Days, even if they have never watched the original TV series.”

Jamesine adds: “Part of the stalls area is given over to some cabaret- style seating – the audience will be visitors to Arnold's Diner!”

Tickets are on 08456 252550.
