Lions skipper Simon Ainge, along with his two club-mates Stephen Brogan and Josh Wilson, all played their part as the England C team earned a victory in Belgium in midweek.

Former Bradford City defender Ainge and recent Guiseley signing Brogan both started the International Challenge Trophy Group A match, with Wilson introduced from the bench later in the game.

England beat their hosts 2-1 and it was a victory that kept their slim hopes of reaching the semi-final stage of the competition alive.

Guiseley manager Steve Kittrick is delighted for the players but with his club hat on was still unsure if they would be playing for the Lions tomorrow after their stint with the Three Lions.

Ahead of tomorrow's Blue Square Bet North home clash with Bishops Stortford, Kittrick said: “They came back into the country on Thursday but I didn’t see them then and there is no training on the day before a game so we will have to see.

“I didn’t get any reports of injuries from the England camp but it isn’t just the game. You don’t know how the lads have coped with the travelling and if they have had the right amount of rest, so it’s going to be a last-minute decision if they do start for us.”

Guiseley made another new signing in midweek with the capture of former Chester FC and Stalybridge Celtic midfielder Jack Rea.

Rea came through the youth system at Chester but joins from Stalybridge, where he was a popular player.

The clubs could not agree a fee despite much discussion so it will be set by an FA tribunal.
