Anger as Buttershaw cricket club is attacked again

A crime-stricken cricket club has been hit by vandals who smashed their way through a brick wall for the second time in two months.

The latest attack on Westwood Park Cricket Club in Buttershaw ’s Skylark Avenue saw yobs batter a hole through a garage wall, which had only just been repaired following a burglary in June.

At the time, the Telegraph & Argus reported how thieves took a £400 strimmer. During this week’s incident nothing was taken, but volunteers at the club say it has suffered so many break-ins over the past four years its insurers will no longer cover it.

Club committee member Michael Haycock said: “It’s so frustrating.”

Police are investigating the latest attack, which is believed to have happened between Monday evening and 3.30pm on Wednesday.

Witnesses should contact police on 101.

I read somewhere that the police had helped the club secure funding of £5k for security shutters.

Maybe now they should invest in some CCTV equipment which is relatively cheap nowadays to catch these scumbags

Buttershaw, that beacon of workless deprivation and lawless youths.

I'd argue Buttershaw is the other side of Cooper lane so this is Clayton Heights.

Anyway it's a half decent private housing estate but in 10 years will resemble Buttershaw !
