Rail passengers using the Wharfedale line face disruption all day after a landslip near the Apperley tunnel early this morning.
Trains between Ilkley and Leeds are being delayed by up to 15 minutes after the landslip which was reported just before 5am.
National Rail Enquiries are reporting trains between Ilkley and Leeds are being diverted via Shipley , while buses are being introduced to supplement the service between Leeds and Shipley were required.
A spokesman for Northern Rail, which runs the line said plans are in place to try to keep disruption to a minimum.
“A bank slip at Apperley tunnel means we will not be able to run a normal Ilkley to Leeds service for the rest of the day,” the spokesman said.
“All passengers are being diverted via Shipley. However there are two Leeds to Shipley services per hour and a half-hourly service from there to Ilkley so we hope disruption will be minimal.”
It is the second time in a few days rush-hour passengers using the line have faced delays.
On Friday travellers saw problems after a train broke down near Guiseley station.
