More than 50 Cyclists stopped off in City Park, Bradford, yesterday as part of a big bike breakfast organised by Bradford Council.

As well as the opportunity to grab a free breakfast, the commuters were able to jump in an articulated lorry to learn more about the driver’s blind spots in an effort to keep them safe.

Councillor Val Slater, the Council's executive member with responsibility for transport, said: “This will hopefully result in both cyclists and HGV drivers being more aware of dangerous manoeuvres and how to keep themselves safe."

Council assistant transport planner Tom Jones said the event was an opportunity to have a chat with cyclists and to learn about the problems that lorry drivers have in seeing cyclists on the road.
