Youngsters at Fearnville Primary School got into the Olympic spirit as they got the chance to see one of the official torches up close.
Daniel Cassidy, a teacher at the Sticker Lane school, asked his friend Chris Ferry, who was a torchbearer during the Leeds leg of the 70-day relay on Monday, to talk about his experience.
Mr Ferry spoke about being selected for the honour due to his charity work in setting up the Eating Stones Fund which helps relieve the suffering of people in Kenya’s slums.
Mr Cassidy said he gave a brief history of the torch to pupils during a special assembly, where a few of the children practised their torchbearing skills.
In addition he later used the torch as part of his class work with year five.
