Medal hopefuls, a torchbearer, commentators and a performer are among a catalogue of connections Bradford Grammar School has with this summer’s London Olympics.

The Keighley Road school played its first part in the games when Tim Boden, father of Baildon pupils Katy, 14, and Jamie Boden, 16, carried the Olympic torch on its first day in the UK – and will be involved until the closing ceremony of both the Olympics and the Paralympics, when fourth form student Jordan Murray will play the drums alongside the Rolling Stones. Teachers and pupils will also be cheering on former students Alistair, 24, and Jonathan Brownlee, 22, who will be competing in the men’s triathlon.

The duo began their training at the school aged nine and 11 by cycling to school from their home in Horsforth.

Other connections include former pupil Roger Mosey, head of BBC Olympic 2012, with responsibility for the BBC’s entire delivery programme for the event and former pupil and previous gold medallist, Adrian Moorhouse, who will be commentating on swimming.
