Tickets are now on sale for The Dark Knight Rises: The IMAX Experience, which opens at the National Media Museum and around the world on Friday, July 20, at 5am.

The early morning screening is intended to coincide with the midnight opening in New York.

The NMM’s IMAX cinema is one of only five UK venues, and the only one in Yorkshire, screening The Dark Knight Rises in a 15/70mm IMAX film print, the way director Christopher Nolan intended.

Nolan’s previous Batman film The Dark Knight was the first major feature film partially shot with IMAX cameras, and for the third instalment, he has used them again to film 60 minutes of footage (the most of any IMAX feature film to date), filling the full 48ft height of the biggest screen in Yorkshire.

A NMM spokesman said: “The National Media Museum’s IMAX cinema is the only place in the region to see The Dark Knight Rises as it was meant to be seen.”

Oscar-winner Christian Bale leads an all-star international cast including Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Anne Hathaway and Tom Hardy.

Also available for pre-booking are tickets for another huge IMAX film, Prometheus: An IMAX 3D Experience which will be shown at the National media Museum from Monday, June 25.

The box office number is 0844 8563797.
