Councillor Naveeda Ikram, the outgoing Lord Mayor of Bradford, spent yesterday celebrating the last day of her year as the district’s first citizen with visits involving youngsters from a children centre and a primary school.
Coun Ikram, who made history last May when she was installed as the country’s first female British Muslim Lord Mayor, visited children at the Canterbury Children’s Centre and Woodroyd Centre in the Little Horton ward which she represents.
Pupils at Newby Primary School off Manchester Road also visited Coun Ikram in her office in City Hall. She said: “It has been a privilege to serve the district and it has given me the opportunity to see the hard work and dedication of the people of Bradford.”
