Ilkley Moor is setting as hundreds lend their voices to new version of anthem

Hundreds of singers were out on Ilkley Moor today lending their vocals to a new version of the Yorkshire anthem On Ilkla Moor Baht 'At.

The gathered volunteers at the famous Cow & Calf rocks were being filmed for a music video to accompany the song, which features Lesley Garrett, the Grimethorpe Colliery Band, Fame Academy’s Alistair Griffin and a rap by actor Brian Blessed.

People of all ages from across Yorkshire were celebrating their region and getting involved with the production which has been organised by Welcome to Yorkshire.

Eliot Kennedy, producer for artistic development on the X Factor and the man behind the new arrangement, was enjoying the atmosphere.

He said: “It’s amazing, I’m blown away with how many people are here streaming down the moor.”

Proceeds from the song sales will go to the Yorkshire Regiment and Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
