A series of summer evening walks will be launched next week.

The walks, which will last up to two hours, are being staged by South Craven Walking 4 Health.

The first is on Wednesday, starting from Glusburn Community and Arts Centre - formerly the institute - at 6.30pm. They will then be held alternate weeks.

Voluntary walk leader Stewart Anthony said: “The walks are designed for working people who might be in sedentary jobs or want a break from the stresses of work, whose health would benefit from a bit of exercise in the company of a friendly group. The walking group is one of 600-plus schemes in England that organise regular short walks aimed specifically at people who need to undertake some physical activity for health reasons. All the walks are led by trained volunteer leaders and cater for a wide range of abilities.”
