Police hunting two robbers who stole money from a man and woman in a village high street have released these pictures of the men they are trying to track down.

The masked pair, armed with a hammer and knife, struck at about 12.30pm on Monday, April 23, when they threatened the victims outside the post office in Main Street, Menston, before escaping in a maroon Skoda Octavia, with the woman’s bag.

Officers leading the hunt for the robbers have tracked down the car, which is being forensically examined by specialists, but have yet to capture the two men.

Now, they are releasing CCTV images of both men and the car as they continue to search for the attackers.

Detective Inspector Mark Long, of Airedale and North Bradford CID, who is leading the hunt, said: “We are making progress with this enquiry and are conducting a detailed forensic examination of the suspects’ car recovered by police from Cleasby Road near the Main Street.

“We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who saw the movements of this vehicle on the day of the robbery and who saw it being parked up and abandoned in Cleasby Road.

“Did you see people behaving suspiciously near the car shortly after pulling up on Cleasby Road, or driving it around Menston before noon on April 23? If so please get in touch.

“A range of inquiries are continuing regarding this incident, which remains very much out of the ordinary for what is a quiet area.”

The victims were left shaken, but uninjured after the armed robbery.

Det Insp Long said anyone who has information about the incidents or witnessed the attack, should call the police on the non emergency number, 101, or contact CrimeStoppers in confidence on 0800 555 111.
