A 20-year-old woman has been charged with the theft of a dog in Cleckheaton.
A cocker spaniel was allegedly driven away in a Honda Civic after it was left tied up outside the Tesco store on Friday.
The dog was found later that day at a caravan in Nibshaw Lane following an investigation by the Spen Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT).
Acting Sergeant Nick Doyle said: “Officers from the Spen NPT reacted quickly and are pleased that it ended with the dog being returned to its overjoyed owner.”
The woman is due to appear before Huddersfield Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, May 24.
In a separate incident on Friday, the NPT seized a suspected dangerous dog from a house in Shirley Lane, Gomersal.
Working with Kirklees Council officers, a warrant was served and the dog seized. It has been sent away for expert analysis, to determine its true breed.
