The proud mother of this year’s overall winner of the Telegraph & Argus Happy Tots competition admitted she was in “complete shock” when she heard her daughter had won.

Ivy-Blossom Hill-Hands, who is ten months old, was not only voted the winner of the six-months to 12-months-old category, but was also declared as the competition’s overall winner.

Mum-of-three Simone Hill-Hands, 24, of St Margaret’s Avenue, Holme Wood, said she initially entered her youngest daughter into the competition so she could have professional photographs taken.

She said: “I just can’t believe it. When I got the call saying Ivy had won I was in complete shock.

“I decided to enter her so we could get professional photographs done and never thought she’d win it. We’re just so happy.”

As well as winning a framed portrait, Mrs Hill-Hands will also receive £500 of shopping vouchers to spend in the Kirkgate Centre.

The mum – who has two other children daughter Skye, five, and son Harley-Jay, three – said she would use the prize to treat Ivy-Blossom.

She said: “I’m going to use the money to buy her lots of toys and treat her. She’s such a good baby – really pleasant and happy.

“Me and my husband Brian had decided we were going to call her Blossom before she was born, but sadly her grandma Ivy died in October 2010, so we decided to name her after her.”

Each category winner has also won framed portraits for finishing top in their group.

Baby Addison Lee O’Reilly-Broadbent was crowned winner of the up-to-six-month-old category; David Conna McMeekin won the one to two-years-old category and Amelia Johnson won the two to three-years-old category.
