Two business studies students were caught with 783 wraps of skunk cannabis hidden in an airing cupboard, Bradford Crown Court heard.

The stash was found in two plastic bags when police raided the home of Aaron Gill, 18, at Fagley Place, Fagley, Bradford.

Gill and Hamid Shakeel, 19, of Kimberley Street, Laisterdyke, Bradford, pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis with intent to supply and simple possession of the Class B drug.

Each was sentenced to a 12-month community order with 150 hours of unpaid work. Gill must also carry out a probation service low level activity requirement.

Prosecutor Philip Adams told the court yesterday that police smelled cannabis when they forced entry to Gill’s home on June 7 last year. Skunk cannabis with a street value of £7,600 was found.

The teenagers made no comment when they were arrested but their fingerprints were on bags of the drug.

Both pleaded guilty on the basis that they were bagging up the cannabis for others.

The court heard that Gill was doing his A levels and hoped to take up a place at the University of Bradford to study business.

Shakeel was studying for a business diploma and also wanted to go on to university. Both were young men without previous convictions.
