Tomorrow, the Bishop of Bradford will open a new building and an innovative play area – complete with amphitheatre and climbing tree – at St Stephen’s Church of England Primary School in West Bowling.

The Right Reverend Nick Baines will speak at assembly, meet the School Council and be given a tour.

Assistant head Tim Elcock said: “The Willow Building provides extra classrooms as we move from one to two-form entry.

“But it’s much more than that. There are two particularly exciting areas – the i-Quarter which contains five learning ‘pods’ promoting imaginative learning through technology, creativity and co-operation, and we’re particularly proud of a stunning new outdoor educational area for those in nursery and reception who prefer to learn outside.

“There’s a stage and mini-amphitheatre, a slide down a hill into a giant sandpit, a tree which children are welcome to climb, a den on stilts, a sensory path and a planting and growing area.

“We’re really looking forward to showing the Bishop these developments which will both help raise standards of learning and achievement and increase the children’s enjoyment of learning.”
