Athlete Daniel Frith, who is going for gold in the 2012 UK School Games, has been to Bradford City Hall to show off his medals.

The 17-year-old, a student at Southfield Special Needs Campus in Little Horton, was the guest of Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Naveeda Ikram.

Daniel is determined to bring back a gold medal from the event at the Olympic Stadium in London on Wednesday, May 9, to add to his collection of trophies and awards, which have topped 50 so far. Last year, he won a silver UK School Games medal after coming runner-up in the 1,500m track event.

Daniel’s PE teacher Barry Holden said: “He’s going to run at that stadium before any of the Olympic athletes get the chance. It’s an amazing opportunity for him and I’m sure he’ll do his best to get gold.”

Daniel, who is autistic, epileptic and has learning disabilities, lives in Barkerend and trains with Bradford Airedale Athletics Club.
