Residents can find out more about elected mayors before a referendum next month.
Leaders and representatives from political parties in Bradford will speak for and against plans for an elected Council leader during a question and answer session at the city’s Midland Hotel on Monday, April 30.
The event has been organised by Bradford Cathedral, on behalf of the Common Good Network, JUST West Yorkshire, Bradford Muslim Women’s Council and the University of Bradford Students’ Union, to help residents make a decision on the topic before the polls open on Thursday, May 3.
Wyn Grant, chairman of the Elected Mayors and Leadership Commission, will share findings from his team’s research on the pros and cons of the mayoral system.
Bradford is one of ten cities in West Yorkshire that will be holding a referendum to decide if residents want an elected mayor.
The event, from 7pm to 9pm, is open to all residents and businesses in Bradford.
To book a place, e-mail youth@justwestyorkshire.co.uk or call (01274) 542222.
