An investigation into an arson attack that could have claimed the life of a Barkerend resident has been launched by police.
The blaze was started deliberately outside a maisonette block in Hendford Drive, Bradford, the scene of a fatal fire in 2010, in the early hours of this morning.
A wheelie bin had been pushed up against the side of a derelict flat by arsonists, filling it with smoke and burning through the boarded up windows.
It then filled a neighbouring flat with smoke and the alarm was only raised when a smoke detector woke the occupant up.
She is not thought to be injured, but a police guard was put outside the block of flats overnight.
It is understood that they have opened an investigation into arson with intent to endanger life.
