A weekend of panels, workshops and masterclasses will take place during Filmmakers Weekend from April 28 to 29.
Organised in association with the Northern Film School at Leeds Metropolitan University, the event will see industry guests on hand to offer practical tips and insider knowledge.
The events, aimed at helping rising independent film-makers, will include sessions on finance, distribution, kit and low budget film-making.
Ingrid Veninger, actress, producer and director, will be giving an insider’s perspective on how to build a successful career in directing as masterclass guest director in Breaking Through – Forging a Successful Career in Directing, on April 28.
Ingrid will also attend the festival for the UK premiere of her third film, i am a good person / i am a bad person, partly filmed at last year’s BIFF.
Events over the weekend include:
- Reel Life – A Masterclass in Directing Documentary. Presented by multi award-winning filmmaker, Anthony Baxter.
- Shooting Digital – The Latest Formats Uncovered. This session combines a talk from cinematography magazine, Hungry Eye, and a practical workshop from Yorkshire-based camera and lighting specialists, Provision.
- Taking the Plunge – Making Your First Feature Film. A look at making a film in a tough economic climate.
- Pitch it – Sell Your Film Idea to the Experts.
