A woman’s mummified body had to be matched to her daughter’s DNA to officially identify her, a Bradford inquest was told.
Unemployed Jean Hargreaves, who was 55 and lived alone in a third-floor flat in Harewood Road, Keighley, was discovered after a worried neighbour contacted police.
Officers who broke into her sparsely-furnished home found her lying on a bed with no sheets, blankets or duvets – she weighed just 22 kilos.
It is believed she died on November 10 last year, about six weeks after neighbours had last seen her.
Post mortem tests ruled out any suspicious circumstances but the cause of death still remained unascertained.
Acting Bradford Coroner Professor Paul Marks said because there were no other competing causes of death, he would record she died from natural causes.
