Bradford West's new MP is George Galloway, of the Respect party.
He swept away all three major poliitical parties in a sensational victory, polling 18,341 votes, 10,140 votes ahead of nearest rival Imran Hussain, the Labour candidate, who polled just 8,201 votes.
The Tory support slumped dramatically, with candidate Jackie Whiteley polling just 2,746, and Liberal Democrat Jeannette Sunderland was in fourth place with 1,505 votes.
In an emotional victory speech, Mr Galloway said it was "the most sensational result in British by-election history bar none", which, he said, represented the "Bradford spring", and the beginning of a revolution in British politics, and a "total rejection" of the three major parties.
The size of his victory was "mammoth" and sent a clear message to the leaders of the main parties that they could not afford to take the votes of ordinary people for granted.
