Two new sections of footpath could be created near Horton-in-Ribblesdale to take walkers away from badly eroded parts of the Three Peaks route.
The longest section, between bridleways 12 and 25, would provide a sustainable link to the Three Peaks, avoiding the sensitive and damaged Black Dubb route.
It would be created as a floating aggregate path, using local gritstone laid on geotextile, and there would be two short lengths of stepped reclaimed stone flags on the steeper areas. A timber footbridge would also be created over Sell Gill Beck.
The other section would be a soil immersion path over limestone pasture.
Applications have been submitted to the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority by Three Peaks project manager Steve Hastie.
