Some of the district’s most talented young people will pick up awards at a special ceremony today. Bradford Council Youth Service’s B-talented programme will be celebrating the success of 14 of its graduates who have given 30 hours a week over the past 40 weeks to gain skills and support others through volunteering.
Volunteers devoted their time to a wide range of activities, which included at youth clubs, district-wide youth work with young people with disabilities, setting up arts and music events, working with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) young people, promoting health and equality and taking part in residential trips. Julie Jenkins, Bradford Council’s assistant director of children’s specialist services, said: “This is an excellent programme. It takes real commitment and determination to complete.”
